Don’t Suffocate me is affiliated with the conflict of my identity and my background. I am born between two worlds: my mothers side from Malaysia with Hokkien Roots and my fathers side from the Netherlands and Moldova. I feel suffocated and am stuck in a vicious circle where the world only sees me as a representitive of one of my cultures. East or west. The contradictions of these two worlds are holding me back. I need to cease this, I need to be free from the history of my ancestors. To achieve this I suffocated the cultural objects I have recieved from my parents as a ritual. So I can finally breathe and be who I am.
